From the everlasting serenity of the deserts to the lively buzz of the city, Dubai is the most happening city not only of United Arab Emirates but also in the Middle East. Dubai belongs to the federation of United Arab Emirates, however, it can easily be distinguished from other emirates of UAE as an active city offering kaleidoscope of attractions for visitors.

The history of Dubai can be traced back to 150 years; however, the emirate of Dubai was officially created in 1971 along with the formation of United Arab Emirates. The city of Dubai has the largest population in UAE and contains second largest geographic area after Abu Dhabi. Along with Abu Dhabi, Dubai owns a veto power over critical matters of national importance in the UAE. About 71% of Dubai population consists of foreigners and expatriates and 3% is categorized as “western”. Emigrates in Dubai mostly include Asians, mainly from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Filipino. The official language of Dubai is Arabic but due to massive number of emirates English, Urdu, Hindi, Malayalam and Bengali are extensively spoken. Although Dubai is an Islamic emirate, the non-Muslim communities are permitted to practice their own religion freely, however, distribution of religious pamphlets and brochures are strictly banned.

The significant presence of ports and natural resources boost the economy of Dubai . The ports of Dubai offers flourishing business prospect for western manufacturers. Besides, natural resources like petroleum and natural gas contribute around 3% of the UAE's gross domestic product. The port area is gradually growing as a busy hub for service industries including the new Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), finance and IT centers. Moreover the rapidly expanding national airline Emirates is also responsible for reinforcing the transport links and economy of Dubai simultaneously. These economic free zones hugely contribute to the rising financial systems of Dubai . The Dubai Media City and the Dubai Internet city together houses one such enclave consisting IT firms such as Microsoft, EMC Corporation, IBM and Oracle Corporation, and media organizations like CNN, MBC, AP, ARY and Reuters.

The demography of Dubai comprises a varied mixture of different nationalities and cultures, best reflected in Dubai 's cuisine. Dubai is a prosperous and wealthy city and referred to as the shopping center of the Middle East. Dubai is genuinely a duty free shopper's ecstasy that offers more for your money.
